All you need to know about the specific regulations for the lighting of professional lamps and flashlights.
What is the ANSI standard?
The ANSI standard is an American standard aimed at making a large number of professional lighting equipment compliant. The products that have to comply with this standard are professional lamps and flashlights such as tactical lamps or lamps that can be used in ATEX (Explosive Atmosphere) zones.
What does the ANSI standard control?
The ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standard controls many essential characteristics in order to meet current regulations. The standards and indices analyzed and verified are 6 in number: the light output, the autonomy of the product's light output, the range of the beam, the maximum intensity of the beam, the water resistance and the watertightness of the product in case of immersion in water.
Light Output : The standard calculates the total luminous flux of the controlled product. This is the total amount of energy emitted by the portable light source. This light output is calculated in Lumens.
Runtime : This index defines the duration of the light output from the initial value, i.e. 30 seconds after the unit is switched on. The product's autonomy is calculated from the moment the product is at its maximum luminous efficiency up to an efficiency of 10%.
Beam distance : This is the distance from the device at which the light beam is 0.25 lux (unit of luminous flux).
Peak Beam Intensity : This is the maximum light intensity generated by the lighting equipment. This index is expressed in candela and does not change with distance.
Water Resistance : This is the sealing of the electrical device concerning the product against the risk of water splashes on the product. This resistance ensures that the product operates without any harmful effects.
Waterproofing and Submersion : This is the possibility of the device penetrating a large quantity of water. With this control, the product immersed in a large quantity of water will not suffer any inconvenience due to the pressure exerted by the water and the duration of this immersion.
These six indices guaranteeing the good quality of the product and its efficiency are regularly implemented in order to ensure an appropriate use whatever your needs in terms of lighting equipment according to your profession.
Products meeting this standard are offered by Proteclight.
Proteclight our online professional equipment sales site has a wide range of products adapted to your profession and meeting ANSI standards.
The flagship products that meet this standard are numerous and meet the quality standards in force.
- Tactical Flashlights: This type of flashlight is essential for a successful intervention. This range of products offers light and compact torches, guaranteeing high light power and perfect waterproofing for an exercise in wet areas or environments where the risk of immersion in water is high.
- Industrial Flashlights: These flashlights are specially designed for use by industrial maintenance departments, technicians and any other tradesmen working in industry. There are two types of torches, simple torches and bent torches, to illuminate a specific area simply by directing the head of the lamp in question.
- Flashlights for use in ATEX zones: This range of lighting equipment is intended for professional interventions in a highly explosive zone. These products, in addition to meeting ATEX (ATmosphère EXplosive) standards, also meet ANSI standards, thus guaranteeing light power, autonomy, light diffusion and watertightness in order to secure your interventions.
All these products and equipment, meeting the ANSI standard in force, are offered to you by our Proteclight site, thus guaranteeing the reliability and quality of all our products.
ANSI standards and Proteclight.
The ANSI standards, which have been made mandatory to guarantee the quality and efficiency of certain product ranges, apply to a large number of products and lighting equipment offered by our online sales site Proteclight. Most of the equipment in the Peli range, such as touch, industrial and ATEX flashlights, are fully compliant with ANSI standards to ensure the highest quality products for safe and secure operation.
